Beer as a hair body builder.
Let's pretend that today is September 7th and I'm in Mexico still. I'm one of those people that when I say I'm going to do something, I sure as hell do it. Last month I promised every first Friday of the month that I was going to do a natural hair care remedy post. I did this treatment in Mexico, and It totally worked out better then I ever expected, and darn it, I was having so many issues with my IPad that I couldn't post it. So I'm doing a little time travel and just going to pretend that its the first of the month.
Beer, not only a yummy drink people devour too much over the weekend, who knew it could be used as a wonderful hair aid. Yup, sounds crazy, but this one actually worked. Right before I headed to the beautiful city of Puerto Vallarta, us girls at Salon Stylush did a Keratase styling class. Which was amazing, but the instructor decided to do a deep hair treatment on me. Which normally would have been awesome, but I was heading to Mexico the next day with very limp conditioned hair. See, my hair is so fine and limp that when its "too" conditioned and add humidity to the equation its just gets super flat and blah. I figured that the treatment would wear out in a few days, but it didn't. It keep on keeping on with lots of silkiness and I was getting irritated with my limp hair. So I decided to look into natural products to give my hair some bounce. And I gave it some bounce with some beer.
See, beer adds body to hair from the large amounts of yeast and hops it has in it. It actually helps plump up your hair cuticle. Since I was in Mexico, we had Corona readily available in the fringe so I decided to go with that.
To do this treatment, I'll you have to do is grab a brew and pour into a cup to deplete some of the carbonation. After its sat out for an hour or so, I jumped in the shower, shampoo/condition as normal, towel dried, then began pouring beer all over my hair, fully saturating and then I styled as normal. I would recommend if you have a spray bottle to put some of your warm beer in it, and spray it on your hair after you get out of the shower. I would have used a spray bottle, but I didn't have one readily available. I know it sounds super crazy, but this little trick saved my hair for the rest of my Vacation. At first when you do it, I will say you will smell like beer, but after it dried, it completely went away. I was incredibly happy this worked, that my hair got it's bounce back and I will definitely do this one again.
