Secret Sunday....How to promote healthy hair growth
So this week someone asked me how they can get their hair to grow fast. Well...it's pretty obvious that hair grows on its own no matter what, but there are a few things we can do to encourage and promote healthy hair growth.
Obviously, first things first. You need to start out with a good hair regimen. click here to read about my hair regimen. Also, make sure you get your hair trimmed on a regular basis. If you are trying to grow your hair out, I always encourage my clients to get it trimmed every 6 weeks and no longer than 8-10 weeks. If you are asking yourself why you should get it trimmed so often if you are growing it out, it' simple: Hair needs to be trimmed. If you don't take care of your hair while growing it out, it will most likely end up damaged and dry. When your hair is dry and damaged it will cause you to get split ends. Split ends actually prevent your hair from growing because they split and literally break off, therefore you hair appears to be shorter. Make sense? So please get a trim ladies. ;)
OK, so now lets talk vitamins. Yes, it is true — vitamins help promote hair growth. It's actually Biotin, B-Vitamins, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E that will help you achieve lustrous hair. A lot of women take prenatals, which is fine. But you want to be careful. I'm kind of a health nut, and I always recommend not taking prenatals, as the iron in them is too harsh for our bodies (liver) if we aren't pregnant. So...whats the answer then? Well, did you know that they actually make a vitamin to support healthy hair growth? Yup, that's right. You can get it at any health food store in town. It's actually called the "Hair, Skin & Nails" vitamin. If you are going for luscious long locks, I'd say go pick up some as soon as you possibly can. I also want to add that eating a wholesome diet will help as well.
I hope this has been helpful to all you beautiful women out that there that are steering clear of extensions and want to have your own long hair. If you are growing out your hair, go pick up some vitamins other than prenatals, book a cut with your stylist & invest in some quality hair care products.
Until next time!! xo
